Miuni Umaya is a Sri Lankan immigrant who currently attends Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences and is pursuing a BFA in Graphic Design with minors in art history and computer science. She has lived in the United States for nearly her whole life, and she is currently based in Central New Jersey. Her creative practice is rooted in vibrant colors, textures, photography, experimentation, and digital and traditional illustrations. She is always looking for new ways to expand her skill set while experimenting with new mediums and technologies, such as 3D modeling and laser cutting. She is multifaceted in publications, web design, brand identity, motion design, typography, and other explorations across various creative avenues. Miuni’s design work primarily focuses on celebrating femininity, feminism, self-transformation, and her Sri Lankan/South Asian Identity. She has always been interested in those specific themes because it represents her identity as a South Asian woman.
